If the students are quoting a particular text from other authors, then they should quote the same in a separate paragraph, within double quotes. While in the footnotes, the exact detail of the publication with the proper number of the line or paragraph should be mentioned. As the parenthetic citations are usually for line numbers, the full text citation references can be given in the footnotes.
