Five Ways To Make Sure Your Internet Is Fast and Stays Fast

Sometimes the internet slows down for no apparent reason. Sometimes things get in the way. We have a saying though:

"The first time is chance, the second time is a coincidence, and the third time you have a problem."

Is your internet slowing down a lot more than normal? You need to address the problem and adjust a few things. I have 4 tips you can use below to get your internet speed back to where it needs to be.

Your IP Information and Online Traffic

Check IP Flow Information Export(IPFIX). There might be an issue with the traffic flow. The internet flow directly impacts your networks and IP address flow. The speed will slow down if the IP flow is congested or compromised in some way.

The Router

Sometimes the router gets in the way. It is nothing major. You might need to restart things though. I have had to do that a few times when my internet speed went down. Pull the plug and wait about ten seconds. Sometimes you need to extend the wait time to 1 minute, depending on the severity of the issue. Everything should be okay after that. Sometimes it is just a technical thing.

There is no need to call the tech guys and have them do it. They will charge you a lot of money for something you can do on your own. Plug it back in. You might need to reset a few things, but everything should be back on track.

A Virus

That happens sometimes. You download something that includes a virus. I have had that happen with software updates. I update to the latest version and there is a virus in there. Sometimes the people do the updates do not know there is one. Either way, a virus can cause delays, slower speeds, and even a system shutdown.

The important thing is not to panic. Sometimes the malware gets into the bandwidth. You just need some anti-virus protection. Do you have some already? You might need some additional protection. Install the additional protection, and wait and see what happens.

The added protection should erase whatever issues you were already having.

Hackers can get in and steal anything, including your CPU resources if you do not have the proper virus protection. Installing the protection should get your speeds back to normal if that is the issue.

Your Browser

What do you have in your browser history? Did you wipe it clean before you turned everything off? I do a scan on my browser and cookies before I shut everything down. hacker can get in there. They can see where you have been and plant a virus in there.

I know that is the last thing you want. That is why you should clear your cookies and history before shutting everything down. You can also increase your internet speeds by using a secured browser tool at the top of your screen.

Blocks

Ads are a nuisance, in more ways than one. You slow your speed and download a virus almost every time you click on one. Block the ads. Your speeds should be back to normal if you do.

Sometimes getting the right internet speed is a matter of trial and error. You might have to break a few eggs before you get your omelet. The point is, you will find something that works for you. The other thing to remember is not to panic.
