Criminal Justice

The Community Supervision Service is the agency responsible for the care, confinement, and rehabilitation of inmates and providing public protection.
People who commit serious crimes should go to prison and stay there as long as the Court sentenced. However, not any crime can be considered as serious; even if it is still extremely serious, there are always extenuating circumstances that sometimes force to look at the situation from the criminal’s point of view. Is it possible to understand and forgive the offender?
Take, for example, the case of a person that has been mocked all his life; this man/woman killed his/her abuser in the heat of passion. Yes, a criminal can be understood, but if the court does not assign him/her a punishment for such an act, then the offender could originate the idea that he/she could easily get away with it. Nevertheless, the fact that he/she was the victim of domestic violence has to become a mitigating factor in the court. What is different about it is that the mother of many children, whose husband beat her, accidentally killed him in a quarrel. If she is aware of her guilt, then suspended sentence can be assigned to her, because leaving children without their mother is not ethical.
A similar situation may arise when the court sent to prison a 18-year-old boy who has 15-year-old wife that is about to give birth to a child. Yes, such a situation is shocking, but not uncommon. A sexual relationship between teenagers is a common phenomenon that is impossible to get rid of. However, when it is a couple in love, and both partners love each other and want to start a family, then it is not necessary to make things worse. If a 15-year-old girl succumbed to the temptation of a young man (or vice-versa, which is not a rare case either) and after sexual intercourse became pregnant, that young man should marry her without the right to divorce until she reaches 21 years of age and raise a child together. Although such precedents as child sexual abuse are often seen, the underage criminals can be sentences to the term in a penal colony. Therefore, what should underage single mother do in that case?
The Community Supervision Service is doing a good job, but one should not forget that sometimes punishing the so-called criminal, they destroy not only “criminal’s” life, but also a lot of innocent people’s lives as well. One should not also forget that every criminal case is unique; therefore, such cases should be treated with the utmost care.
