How to avoid computer Viruses

So you’re looking for a way to avoid computer viruses, huh? Well, there are a few ways to make sure to avoid or destroy these nasty viruses. There are sites that allow you to download free virus protection software. However, there are other places you can buy from to make your internet browsing secure before having to run the free virus scanners. There are more ways to avoid viruses than just installing software to protect your computer though as we’ll discuss further down, so let’s get into it.

MalwareBytes

One way to get rid of the viruses you contract is to install a 3rd party virus protection software. MalwareBytes is a great choice for a free virus protection. All you have to do is google malware bytes anti-malware and click on the actual site for it (not the ad version) and follow the on screen instructions to download the program. From there, it’s so easy its hard to believe, you just click the install setup, follow the procedures, and it will pop up the MalwareBytes dashboard screen. Then, all you have to do is run a quick scan to see if you got any viruses and after that full scan it. It only takes about 5 to 30 minutes to scan the whole PC depending on how much space your using, and then restart the computer. It’s that simple, and if you want to you can schedule a weekly scan for when you’re sleeping. Another free antivirus protection site is ByteFence, it follows the same as MalwareBytes, but it runs slower, and doesn’t get everything.

Software

You can also buy software programs to protect your computer from cyber threats like Norton who are the number one antivirus program on the market. They make things simple for the user by taking away most of the work. It works like MalwareBytes, but easier to quarantine viruses and destroy them. Norton is also always on the lookout for any potential threats that the users can experience on the internet so that they don’t have to worry about getting a virus on their computer. There are also other payable virus protection offers out there like McAfee, Total AV, PC Protect, Bitdefender, Avira, Avast, AVG, and Kaspersky that will protect your computer the same way that Norton will. The prices vary per site, and there are more than just the main offers because they all have different packages for different prices.

Avoid Viruses

However, you can avoid viruses all alone if you so choose. Just stay off the internet. No, just kidding, in this day and age there’s no way to stay off the internet as it's used everywhere, and if you don’t have a PC, the library does for you to use and access the internet. So what can you do to be safe on the internet? Well, even if you don’t have a security program on your computer, your PC will alert you if you’re entering a site that has malicious content on it. Basically, it’s your computer saying, “Hey, there are viruses here. DO NOT ENTER!” If you follow the computer and say do not continue to site, then you’ll avoid catching a virus. Now, this message doesn’t mean that the site is virus ridden, it just means that clicking at that particular moment will guarantee a virus. Another way is to only go to trusted sites when you’re online. Many of the trusted sites like Facebook, Amazon, Google, eBay, Yahoo, Credit Karma, and a lot more sites have their own virus protection within their site to make 100% sure that their guests don’t get viruses from their site.

So to avoid a virus, the best thing to do is listen to your computer when it tells you there’s malicious content ahead. Then you should download a free virus scanning program to make sure that if you do get a virus, you can remove it the same day. I hope this helps!
