How To Have an Unforgettable Family Vacation

How To Have an Unforgettable Family Vacation

To some family vacations can become a stressful situation before you even leave the driveway. From planning to ensuring everyone will be entertaining and happy with the destination to picking dates organizing it around work and school it seems like the list is endless. This can definitely take the fun out of a vacation which is the entire point. Getting away from stress is a must especially in the fast paced world we live in. Here are a few tips and tricks to create wonderful memories with your family without all the stress and headaches that come with the planning process.

Go During Off Season.

Depending on what part of the country you live in some months have less desirable weather for certain destinations. Not to state the obvious but most people take their vacations during the summer. Beach destinations become over-crowded sand traps and amusement parks become an over priced mess where you spend half your time standing in line for rides plus paying for food and then waiting in line for that too. Going later in the season near the end of summer means beaches are less crowded, more rooms and houses are available to rent, and sometimes cheaper. It won't be as hot as the middle of summer and nights may get a little cold but all that takes is a hoodie and a fire pit then viola! Perfect for roasting smores and keeping warm. Plus, privacy.

Certain amusement parks built where weather can change from sunshine to rain are built to withstand it which means they don't necessarily have an 'off season'. But that isn't always the case with warmer climates such as the west coast. Instead of hauling the family off to an amusement park in the summer wait till the colder months and the park will practically be empty. Spending a weekend with minimal lines and cheaper hotel rates is sure to make everyone happy and your wallet too.

Read Reviews of Hotels and Air B&B's Before Booking.

Pictures don't tell the whole story and reviews can point out the good or bad in a possible rental or hotel. Not only do reviews go over the staff, service, and all around experience in the case of a bad experience online reviews give the company the ability to handle a complaint quickly. Silence on an online complaint no matter the size isn't a good size. Where you stay is important and you want to ensure after a day of fun your family will come home to a clean, safe, and comfortable environment with working wi-fi and good food either available to order or down in the lobby.

Pack the Essentials.

It may seem like an obvious tip and a somewhat silly one but how annoying is it to get to your destination after a few hours of traveling only to realize you forgot shampoo? Going back out in an unfamiliar place can make anyone cranky. Make sure you, your partner, and your kids have everything they will need to eliminate the chance someone will have to venture out to find whatever is missing.

Get There Comfortably.

Driving can not only save money on flights but ensure all your luggage will fit. Long car rides can become uncomfortable quickly and for a family of four or more you'll need room to spread out and relax. Renting or buying a midsize sedan will guarantee there's enough space for everyone, all your suit cases and extras will fit, and you won't go broke during gas fill ups. Relax in the comfort of roomy seats and bass boosted speakers and depending on the model your family can enjoy a movie too.

Planning vacations involving more than one person can be stressful. Take these simple steps to help make sure your family vacation is one chalked full of happy memories to treasure until the next vacation.
