It should be understood that Cannabis Medicinal Puerto Rico is made up of over a hundred natural chemical compounds, cannabinoids, which interact with the receptors in our body (those of the endocannabinoid system) to produce certain effects.
The Cannabis Puerto Rico of greatest interest is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). It is the latter that is most often found behind the notion of therapeutic cannabis.
In recent years, indeed, CBD has been at the heart of debates on the benefits of therapeutic cannabis. The scientific literature is closely interested in the properties of this substance and its potential health benefits. because although the positive action of Medical Cannabis Puerto Rico has not yet been rigorously demonstrated at this stage, it has already been the subject of numerous studies and trials (preclinical and clinical). It would thus have effects on:
- The different forms of anxiety, stress, and depression
- Sleep disorders
- Chronic pain, especially of neuropathic origin (such as fibromyalgia)
- Inflammations (acute or chronic) such as endometriosis
- Painful muscle contractions (such as those found in multiple sclerosis)
- Neurological conditions (especially epilepsy)
- Degenerative pathologies (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis)
- Complications linked to certain cancers
Please note: Cannabis Medicinal Puerto Rico is not a cure. Cannabidiol is “only” used to relieve certain symptoms, especially chronic pain while eliminating the risks associated with taking medication (side effects, dependence). Beyond the scientific literature, there is a whole community of consumers who value this therapeutic aspect of cannabis through their daily experience of the substance.
CBD and the medical use of cannabis: where do we stand?
By controlling the concentration of CBD and THC in the hemp plant, it is thus possible to manufacture end products capable of providing patients with the benefits of therapeutic cannabis. There are already a few cannabis-based medicines out there. But, when we talk about medical cannabis, it is more about consuming products rich in CBD in more direct forms, such as oil or herbal teas.
This use tends to develop almost everywhere, even if many countries still refuse to speak of “therapeutic cannabis” and to evoke the possible health benefits of this substance.
Also, the products marketed must come from synthetic hemp plants, rich in cannabidiol, and with a THC content of less than 0.2%, which is almost non-existent. A reminder that cannabis is only "therapeutic" once it is rid of its psychoactive effects.
