Storage Engineer

Storage Engineers enable and take the lead for data storage’s engineering process in an organization. They do this by creating strategies planning and implementing solutions for storage and maintenance of data. Engineers must also apply patches, upgrade software, and make sure that data is secured. They are also responsible for monitoring the storage area network (SAN). Finally, engineers devise plans for disaster recovery, besides implementing backup and storing procedures of data.

A Storage Engineer’s job entails being part of a team that designs, configures, develops, integrates, tests, implements, documents, and supports the storage infrastructure ecosystem. The candidate works with different teams to explain requirements and suggest the right storage and backup solutions and procedures. Engineers also create and maintain documentation of the existing technology and solutions. They take part in capacity planning and tweaking performance for storage and backup environments

They handle replication of DR data to make sure that data is recovered, in case of any glitches. Engineers configure and administer performance and massive storage arrays while deploying and configuring SANs. They upgrade, implement, monitor policies, and procedures to ensure that storage can always be provisioned for data protection and that all this adheres to relevant compliance standards.
