Three Fast Rising Brisbane hip hop artists

There are some fantastic established Brisbane hip hop artists. Over the last few years, Australia has really seen some great things happening in this genre in general. But here we focus on some of the newer acts breaking through and leading the charge in hip-hop music in 2020. We have three of the most talented artists bringing something exciting and fresh to the Brisbane music scene.

Creed Tha Kid

This Brisbane teen is fast rising and while being just 17 has already achieved a great deal. He is on A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's official remix of Mood Swings, appearing with fellow up and comers Day1 and Youngn Lipz and has over 2.5 million plays on Spotify. This rapper had a big hit with the classic Vibes and is one of our top listens for hip hop, Brisbane based. Currently, you can look for his remix of Say My Name, before that his single released is Bag. Bag really shows off his melodic abilities as well as his bars. It is a harder track than Vibes and was completely freestyled. In his words "I always go for whatever the beat's telling me, whatever the energy or mood I'm feeling. Vibes was a nice tropical vibe but Bag was more an energy-hitting, hard, 808 bumping one."

Carmouflage Rose

Another of the important Brisbane hip hop artists is Carmouflage Rose (Larry Herrington) who has had a fantastic three years on the scene and only has great things ahead of him. His earlier singles include Let me Down, Wildflower and Late Nights (his breakthrough track) and they blend sounds including R&B, late night beats and dancehall. More recently we have two tracks Million Styles and Sele created in his own of Zimbabwe. He signed on with Sony Music Australia a couple of years ago and has also appeared at several music festivals. About his art, he says that music "is the only thing I ever did that made me feel like I wasn't working. It doesn't feel like working. It feels like having fun". His tracks only get better so we look forward to seeing what comes next.

Nerve

Nerve is not just a performer, he is also a songwriter and a producer. His impressive debut album us called Sober and came out in 2018. He also works with other rappers and hip hop Brisbane artists, including Sydney's ChillinIT, finessing their beats.  Other tracks include Gone Stupid and Sunday Roast. He is influenced by artists such as Anderson Paak, Wiley, DJ Premiere, Travis Scott and slowthai. Over the last 12 months, he has been streamed more than 2 million times. His releases are rich and diverse which is why this independent hip hop artist is doing so well.

Conclusion

These are just three of the exciting artists Brisbane has right now transforming hip hop. Talented performers that deserve a shout out so go take a look at what they have to offer and look out for their tracks and their live performances.
